February Team Spotlight: Meet Andy Bramer

Andy Bramer grew up in Canada, just north of Toronto. His parents are Austrian and he grew up speaking German and French. Then went on to study languages at McMaster University. After college, Andy lived in both Austria and France before making his way to San Diego.

Andy grew up self-employed and running various businesses that required being involved with the day-to-day business operations, managing revenues and expenses to create profitable endeavors. Before joining Optima, he managed an acupuncture clinic for 10 years. At Optima, Andy is a bookkeeper, working here for more than 2 years now. He really appreciates the leadership style and the type of fun and caring atmosphere in the workplace. Andy feels that he always has guidance and support when needed, along with the opportunity to grow.

Outside of work Andy enjoys skiing, kitesurfing, watching a good thriller or animated movie with his daughter. He also enjoys traveling and is looking forward to an upcoming trip to France and Italy this summer with his wife and daughter.

One of Andy’s favorite quotes is “Better to live one day as a tiger than a thousand years as a lamb.” – Tibetan proverb. For him, this translates to a more modern quote – “just do it”. In keeping that quote in mind, Andy feels accomplished by focusing on what he can do each day to have greater mastery over what is important to him – improving his skills, managing his schedule or prioritizing his progress.
