Meet John O’Dea, who is a Controller at Optima Office. He attained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles and has his CPA certification. John started his career at Price Waterhouse where he specialized in start up entrepreneurial companies. After that, he found himself working in manufacturing, medical devices, and scientific research.
Subsequently, he spent a decade at La Jolla Playhouse, a Tony Award winning regional theatre which operates as a Non-Profit. After his tenure there, he spent the past few years working as an individual tax preparer and a general accountant supporting companies from agricultural to Italian wine sellers. He eventually found himself in the tax world.
John O’Dea has a lot of experience in many different industries, but his specialties are startups and entertainment. He has a lot of knowledge and expertise with the tax software Lacerte, QuickBooks, Blackbaud, and Great Plains.
What John loves most about his job is working with a truly great team of professionals who treat him with respect and care. He also loves the clients he is able to work with on site, “they are all really terrific folks,” he exclaimed.
John’s favorite pastime outside of work is traveling and playing tennis with his friends and family.
